Gene was born in High Springs Florida on March, 24th, 1944, and raised in O'Brien Florida. He was a long distance truck driver by trade, an avid fisherman, and a Master Gardener. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Thelma Barnett, wife Janis Barnett, and a son Donald Barber. He is survived by his sister, whom he adored Virginia Howell Roberts (Albert), his children Timothy Barnett (Stephenie), Jeana Crenshaw (Ken), Roger Barber (Sherry), Jana Key, and Joni Barber Milling. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation with Eugene's family will be held on Wednesday October 15th, 2025 at 2:00 pm with a service immediately following at 3:00 pm at Union Baptist Church in O'Brien, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch in Live Oak Florida, or St Jude's Hospital, as he was a faithful contributor to both.
