Irving "Bo" Stephens Boggs passed away Friday, June 6, 2025, in Tallahassee. A longtime resident of Clarksville, Florida, he was born October 27, 1935, in Jacksonville to Virginia Stephens Boggs. He was 89.
His mother Virginia was Postmaster for 41 years at the original Clarksville Post Office and General Store which is now relocated to the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown.
Bo graduated from Frink High School in 1954 where he played football and basketball. He served for two years in the United States Army. Due to his postal experience at the Clarksville Post Office, he was assigned to the Post Office at Ft. Sill Oklahoma. After being discharged he worked for Independent Life Insurance Company in Calhoun and Liberty Counties. Bo became a millwright and worked at multiple industrial locations including the City of Tallahassee at the Jackson Bluff Hydropower Dam on the Ochlocknee River. He retired from the City of Tallahassee in 2005 and was a Mason for 50 years.
When Bo passed, Calhoun County and Clarksville lost a man full of local history. He was a family historian and loved family genealogy and Photography was one of his special hobbies.
Bo is preceded in death by his Mother Virginia Stephens Byrd, his beloved stepfather, William Byrd, an infant son as well as his great grandfather David Stephens, his grandmother, Balzora Daniel Stephens. David and Balzora homesteaded 120 acres in Clarksville and signed by President Grover Cleveland in 1892
Also preceding him was his grandfather and grandmother David and Martha Della Bailey Stephens, his uncles, Ancil, Austin, J Frank, John Huey and Cecil Stephens and his cousins, Streetman, Merle, Joanne, Franklin, Billie, Dewey, Johnny and Michael Stephens as well as Sylvia Stephens Farr and Maxine Stephens Hobby
Bo is survived by very special cousins Thomas "Tommy" Howard Stephens of which they considered themselves lifelong brothers, Jackie Stephens Ritter (RG), Melissa Stephens, Margarite Stephens Young Roberts, Martha Stephens Hendon, Loretta Stephens Weeks, Andy Stephens, Harold Stephens and Charles Young.
A time of visitation for Bo will be held 6 - 8 P.M. Friday, June 20, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home and a service being held 9 A.M. Saturday June 21, 2025, at Clarksville Cemetery with Tommy Dykes officiating.
