Isaac "Ike" Kelln Jr., 90, passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Temple, Texas. He was born in
Follett, Texas on October 25, 1933. Mr. Kelln had a fulfilling career - he began working for United Rentals
and ButterKrust Bread in Austin before moving to Temple in 1965, where he dedicated 25 years to Frito-
Lay as a Route Sales Representative until his retirement.
Described as a man with a fabulous personality, Mr. Kelln will be remembered for his unwavering care
and love for his family, including his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Schraeder) Kelln. He leaves behind a legacy
of faith and commitment to Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder. His compassion
and kindness extended to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kelln is survived by his son Keith Kelln (Anne), daughters Karen (Gary) Kosel,
Kristi (Tim) Stroschein, brother Charles Kelln, sisters Wanda Thompson and Shirley Eason, eight
grandchildren, Garrett (Taylor) Kosel of Frisco, Karson Kosel of Dallas, Samuel Stroschein of Gillette, WY, Cali (Aaron) Lewis of Aransas Pass, Stephen (Cat) Ford of Temple, Andrea (Daniel) Evers of College Station, Angel Dixon (Jared Thompson) of Temple, Alex Ford of Heidenheimer as well as seven greatgrandchildren, Emerson Kosel, Isabella Thompson, Nichol Ford, Stephen Ford IV, Jewelee Lewis, Emily Lewis & Stormie Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents Isaac Kelln, Sr. and Anna (Hinther) Kelln, three brothers –
Leland Kelln, Leon Kelln, Adam Kelln - and one sister Rosalie Miller.
Mr. Kelln took immense pride in various accomplishments throughout his life. He was a valued member
of the Temple Bass Club, the Lutheran Laymen's League in Austin, and a Williamson County Sheriff's
Department charter member. His dedication to these organizations reflected his commitment to
community service and personal interests.
Outside of work and community involvement, Mr. Kelln found joy in collecting guns and antiques; with a
particular penchant for purchasing grandfather clocks. Autumn Saturdays were spent watching
Oklahoma Sooners football, and in the spring the television was usually tuned into NCAA women's
basketball and softball games. A nature enthusiast, Mr. Kelln relished camping trips, waterskiing,
hunting, and fishing. He generously shared his skills by teaching others how to have fun and participate
in the activities he loved.
The visitation for Mr. Kelln will be held on March 30th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Young's Daughters
Funeral Home & Bereavement Center in Temple. A funeral service will take place on April 1st at 10:30
AM at Immanuel Lutheran Ministries Temple Campus, followed by the burial at Hillcrest Cemetery at
11:45 AM. These services aim to honor and celebrate the remarkable life led by Mr. Kelln, who will
forever hold a cherished place in the hearts of those who knew him.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sabrina Young at Young's Daughters Funeral Home &
