Isabel Serna, 88, Beloved Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt, Friend and Devout Christian was called to her eternal resting place on May 28, 2025. She entered this world on September 23, 1936, in San Antonio, NM, born to Antonio Jose and Lugarda Gonzales. She came to Albuquerque when she was 10 years old.
Isabel was the last surviving sibling of 12. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters; five brothers; and son-in-law, Gary. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Galemore; her son, Pablo Serna; son, Julian (B.J.) Serna (wife Nancy); Godson, Cameron Danfelser (wife Jackie); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Isabel's God given talent was caring for children. After the death of her husband, Julian, she ran a home day care for many years. Children were her life. Our mom was loved by many and leaves behind a legacy of Love, Peace, and Happiness.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, beginning with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and Mass at 10:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will follow in the school gym. Private interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Omar Garcia-Salas, Enrique Quesada, Julian Quesada, Nicole Pickrell, Andre Valdez, Diego Valdez, Santiago Valdez, and Dayl Sena.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to any children's organization of your choice.
Special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Pentecost for the care and love she showed to our mom and to the staff of Bosque Trails Hospice.
