With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Rosa Isabel Serna. Rosa departed from this life on December 15, 2025, from her home in Portland, TX, after a months-long battle with advanced stage IV cancer.
Rosa was born on August 30,1950 in Saltillo, Mexico, to her father Raul Uresti and her mother, Olimpia Uresti. Before becoming a wife and mother, she was a beloved daughter and sister. Rosa was preceded in death by: her father, mother, and her siblings, Raul Uresti, Juan Uresti, and Armandina Uresti.
Rosa is survived by: her loving and steadfast companion and husband of fifty-three years and four months, Encarnacion Serna; her sister, Mercedes Mejia; her son, Miguel Serna, and her daughters, Olimpia McAllister, Rosalinda Serna-Chapa, and Blanca Parkinson, as well as her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Rosa's journey as a wife and mother was one of service and complete dedication to her family. Rosa's hands were always busy creating and caring for her family. She never forgot from where she came, and her maternal love and care extended to her parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces. She was a devout Catholic who always stayed true to her faith.
Her family deeply mourns the loss of her matriarchal strength, wisdom, and love but will continue to cherish the memories of love, care, and dedication left by Rosa.
