Isabelle Bishop Obituary

Published by Crawford Funeral Home Inc on Aug. 8, 2016.
Isabelle Sarah (Barbagallo) Bishop Rochester: August 8, 2016 at age 86. Isabelle was born on March 16, 1930 in Macedon, NY. She graduated from the Macedon High School in 1948 and went to work for Stromberg Carlson as an assembly line inspector. While at the Webster Fireman's Carnival, she met, and a year later in 1954, married the love of her life, Glenn Bishop, who was home on furlough from the Air Force. After traveling a few years with the Air Force, they returned to Rochester, where they raised their three daughters on Illinois St. in the 18th ward. From a young age, Isabelle expressed herself in poetry, eventually composing hundreds of poems throughout her life. Many were written for special occasions or for cards she would send to friends and family. While her children were at home, she enjoyed sewing stuffed animals to give as gifts, along with crafting decorations, using recycled materials. ." In later years, her creative energies went into making cards and stationery from used greeting cards and pictures cut from magazines. She was an avid reader and loved to do word search puzzles. Growing up during the Great Depression, she knew how to make ends meet. She enjoyed attending rummage sales and was an "extreme couponer" before the term was even coined. More than once, she left a grocery store with the store paying her to take a bag items home she had "purchased. Her lifelong passion, which she referred to as her "exercise" and "therapy," was dancing to rock'n'roll and country music. She enjoyed attending country jamborees with her husband and friends in the Rochester area. She would also dance at the rock'n'roll gigs at local venues her son-in-law, Guy Rossi, would play in. She loved angels, and over the years, collected hundreds in all shapes and sizes. She had a strong faith which was reflected in some of her poetry. She belonged to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for over 50 years. She always had a kind word to say to everyone she met, and no matter the difficulty she might be experiencing at the moment, she will be remembered by the smile she always had on her face. Isabelle was predeceased by her caring husband of 58 years, Glenn E. Bishop, her parents, Samuel & Alfreda Barbagallo; her son-in-law, Frank Warner; her sisters and husbands, Angela (Carl) Buscemi, Mary (Tom) Owens, Grace Barbagallo, Grace E. (Jack) Poly; sister-in-law & brother-in-laws, Betty (Art) Tierson, Robert & George Bishop; niece and nephew, Linda Buscemi Daudeliln & Thomas Bishop. Survived by her daughters, Judith (Guy) Rossi, Joyce Warner & Jane Bishop; grandchildren, Matthew Rossi, Brian & Mark Warner; sister, Josephine (Frank) Goodman; sister-in-laws & brother-in-law Betty "BJ", Claudette &Joseph (Annie) Bishop; nieces and nephews David (Ellen), Edward (Marianne) & Carl Michael (Kathy) Buscemi & Richard Daudelin; Mary Ann & Michael (Kathy) Goodman; Clifford & Cathy Simon; Debbie Bishop (Tom McIlvene); Sherri Bishop, Susan (John) Schreiber & Jonathan (Wendy) Bishop; Jamie (Brandi) Bishop, Carrie (Jake) Petrotta & Faith (Doug) Wilbert; close friend of 65 years, Kay Grundman, and many more family and friends. Sincerest condolences to the Bishop family. I never met Isabelle but purchased her house on June 3rd of this year. If I understand right Isabelle and her husband were at this residence for 50+ years. My new neighbors talk fondly of when she was living there.
