Obaugh Funeral Home, Inc. - McDowellIsabelle Fay (Hise) Bussard, age 66, of Monterey, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at The Springs Nursing & Rehab Center in Hot Springs following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born December 6, 1958 in Hot Springs, the youngest child of the late Clem Richard "Dick" and Mary Irene (Lowry) Hise. Isabelle was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.
Isabelle had worked in the restaurant industry and Hanover Shoe for many years while raising her young children. She then worked for 14 years at Halterman Turkey Houses before being diagnosed with cancer. Although an amazing cook, Isabelle was usually more worried about what was for dessert than what the main dish would be. An animal lover, she would care for any animal brought into the house and even befriended the neighbor’s dog, Boon, who often visited the turkey house. Isabelle enjoyed watching police procedural action drama, such as NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order - so much so, that she could probably solve cases on her own! Above all, Isabelle will be remembered as being a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her children, Richard Allen Bussard of Brandywine, WV, Douglas Wayne Bussard and wife, Brandi of Monterey, and Patricia “Trish” Lynn Bussard and life companion, Tim Wimer of Monterey; granddaughter, Brooklyn Skye Bussard of Monterey; sisters, Margie Bennett and husband, Eston of Circleville, WV, Mary Jane Vandevander of Circleville, WV, Thelma Mae White of Circleville, WV, and Patsy Shiflett and husband, Edward of Greenville; brothers, Charles "Richard" Hise and wife, Shirley of Stuarts Draft and David "Sourwood" Hise and companion, Virginia Belle Smith of Monterey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Church of God of Prophecy, 40 Four Seasons Road, Monterey with Rev. Ray Turner officiating.
In memory of Isabelle’s love for animals, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Humane Society, PO Box 458, Monterey, Va. 24465.
