Our beautiful mother, Isabelle Mae Rhodes, age 97 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life to begin her eternal life in Heaven on May 15, 2022. Isabelle was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Filo and Mary Sams on October 23, 1924. She was an interior designer who, since 1978, owned and operated her own company, Isabelle Interiors, Inc.
Isabelle was a very classy lady with great taste and high standards. She was an incredibly gifted seamstress who sewed beautiful drapes and clothing and was honored to have handmade both of her daughters' wedding dresses.
In addition to her successful design business, she also worked as a realtor, affording her the lifestyle she'd always dreamed of. She enjoyed traveling and took many memorable vacations to Mexico, China, and Hawaii. She often shared her memories of very special trips to Colorado, where she loved staying in the cabins, going fishing, camping, and horseback riding. She absolutely loved to fish, and enjoyed fishing for trout, as well as deep-sea fishing. She also enjoyed frequent road trips, taking many RV excursions across the entire continental United States during her life. Isabelle was also a very talented card player, who enjoyed many games and was an amazing self-taught Bridge player. She made prayer quilts with her lady quilters from Southern Hills Baptist Church, and she loved these ladies so dearly. She was also a member of the Estherette's Sunday School class, for many years, and loved her time with the Lord in the Prayer room.
Isabelle was very active in her church and used her resources to help found several churches over the years. She loved the Lord and prayed to Him often. More than anything on Earth, she loved to spend time with family and friends. She simply adored her family and was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. It was always the highlight of her day when family and friends came to visit. Her kind heart touched the lives of many people during her lifetime, and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Isabelle was preceded in death by her husband James Rhodes, her parents Mary Ester (Williams) Sams and Filo Sams, son Sammy Jon Rhodes, and grandson Jason Gardner.
Left behind to treasure her memory are her three children, Suzan Colson, Jean Gardner and Dean Rhodes, as well as nine grandchildren, and many more loving family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm through 8:30pm on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 S. Broadway Ave. in Moore, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm on Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Southern Hills Baptist Church, located at 8601 S. Penn Avenue, in Oklahoma City. Interment will follow the service at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City.
