Isla Rochelle Cook was born in Waco, Texas on June 6, 1935, and passed away in Mystic Shores on July 27, 2024.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, William "Dink" Cook, and her parents, Charles Clayton and Isla Taylor Clendening. Rochelle had 4 siblings, Charles Clayton Jr., Dorothy Marie, and Mary Elizabeth Dean, she is survived by her younger brother Arlen Kay Clendening and his wife Joyce Anne.
Rochelle is survived by her children, Candace Cook Risien-Busch of Canyon Lake, Melissa Cook-Jacobson and husband Joe of Sargent, and William "Bill" Cook, Jr. and wife Janet Baer Cook of San Antonio. Rochelle leaves seven grandchildren Mark Kent Risien, Jr., and wife Ashley, Chelsea Risien Fitts and husband Justin, Ashlea Risien Martin and husband Paul, Sara Steinbacher, Clayton Steinbacher and wife Adrianna, William D. "Trey" Cook III, and Ryan Cook and wife Sofia. Rochelle and Dink have twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and lots of loving friends and family members.
Dink and Rochelle were married 55 years, have reunited and now reside in heaven with our Lord and their first great granddaughter Lola Bess Risien.
Rochelle graduated from Bruceville-Eddy High School in 1954, where she was a majorette and had to play basketball so the girls could make a team!! Upon graduation, she moved to Houston and worked many years at THE Prudential building that was located downtown where she lived and met Dink. They married in 1957.
Rochelle worked several other occupations and completed her earning career in 1997, after 22 years with Klein ISD. Upon her retirement she served on the boards of the Tomball Museum, Tomball Regional Arts, Tomball Regional Hospital Gala. She and Dink loved decorating the Tomball Museum Center for Christmas, for which she received the Proclamation of "Rochelle Cook Day" by the Tomball mayor.
Rochelle was a longtime member of Tomball United Methodist Church, a member and volunteer with the Spring Creek Historical Association, she was also an organizing member of The New Kentucky Chapter of the Daughters of The Republic of Texas for over 25 years. She was a fifth generation Texan.
