With a heart full of love and memories, we announce the passing of Israel Lazu, also fondly known as 'Mumbles,' on November 28, 2023. Born on April 23, 1946, in the beautiful town of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Israel's life was a testament to his empathetic and compassionate nature. He was a rare gem, an individual who never failed to bring a smile to those around him. His humor was infectious, his laughter a melody that never failed to light up a room.
Israel was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He cherished watching novelas, his eyes sparkling with anticipation at every plot twist. A lover of music, his voice touched the hearts of many when he sang, filling the room with warmth and love. Once an ardent boxer, he held on to his passion, reminiscing about his boxing days with a twinkle in his eye. Although he never married or worked, his life was rich in experiences and relationships. As Mark Twain once said, "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." Israel found his purpose in being a pillar of strength and love for his family, whom he loved more than anything else in the world.
Predeceased by his parents, Louis Lazu and Carmen Perez, and his son, Angel Lazu, Israel is survived by his daughter, Odelis Rodriguez, his son, Julio Lazu, and his step-father, Noemi Espinoza. His loss will be deeply felt by his spouse, Victoria Espinoza, whose life was immeasurably enriched by his love. To quote Leo Buscaglia, "Death is a challenge. It tells us not to waste time It tells us to tell each other right now that we love each other."
A viewing will be held on Monday, December 4th, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, at 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109.
As we remember Israel, we encourage you to share your memories and photos on his memorial page. Every story, every picture, every moment shared in his honor helps to keep his legacy alive. His life was a beautiful composition, and every memory adds a note to the melody that was Israel Lazu.
