It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Itzel Jocelynn Guerra, affectionately known as "Flaca," who left us far too soon on April 19, 2025, at the tender age of 18. Born on November 7, 2006, in Brownsville, Texas, Itzel brought light and joy to everyone she touched. Her life was tragically cut short in a vehicle accident in Overland Park, Kansas.
Itzel was a radiant young woman, full of life and love. She had an innate ability to bring happiness to those around her through her laughter, her dancing, and her beautiful singing voice. Itzel's compassionate nature shone brightly in her work at Primrose Daycare, where she devoted herself to caring for and nurturing young children. Her ability to connect with others and her ever-present smile made her a cherished friend and colleague.
Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. Whether she was on the dance floor, singing her heart out, sharing laughter with friends, or offering a helping hand to someone in need, Itzel lived her life with passion and kindness. She had a special talent for making people feel loved and valued.
Tragically, Itzel passed on her prom night, just weeks away from her high school graduation. A bright future lay ahead, full of hope and promise, but her legacy of joy and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her.
She is survived by her loving mother, Araceli De Leon; her father, Edgar Guerra; and her beloved brother, Mauricio Guerra. Their hearts are broken, yet filled with gratitude for the precious time they had with her.
Itzel Jocelynn Guerra's spirit will forever be remembered and cherished. Her light may have been extinguished, but her memory will continue to warm the hearts of all who knew her.

Hi I'm mauriyana brown, one of itzel's best friends I was new to Shawnee mission south earlier last year in 2024 and my first day I shared a class with itzel but she was not there the first few minutes & after a few minutes passed by she entered the class. This class had only 6 people and all guys including me 1 female, when itzel walked in the class I looked up and I wondered was she here to stay or was she just dropping something off, and she came and had a seat 2 rows in front of me that day. Itzel and I started talking when we headed to lunch and she asked to sit with me and ofc I said yes, from that point on we was always together we would walk each other to class and go out for lunch sometimes. When I first met itzel me and her clicked very fast she was like the light to my darkness I always could vent to her about literally anything, she never judged me no matter what and she was my shoulder to cry on, itzel and I always had each other's back no matter what. Itzel was a bright outgoing person her smile and laughter, and dancing always brought happiness to the room she was in. I love itzel so much. God was watching over me that prom night because I was exposed to go home with her but something told me no go home with your other friends so I did, and that night by the time I got outside after gathering my thing itzel had already left. Me not going that night, it saved my life I miss her every single day and I wish I could go back in time and change everything but I think about it like this- itzel is with God now up in heaven living her best life God had other plans for her and now that she is happy living in eternal life I have to be happy that she is happy, she had her good and bad days but she always was there for me and others. I'm so glad I got to see her one last time happy and shining in her beautiful blue dress I think God ever day for letting me see her one last time hear her voice and dance with and and most importantly say (I LOVE YOU ITZEL) one last time I would have never thought that would be it THE LAST TIME. My message to all of you is enjoy the times you have with friends and family while you can because anything can happen. Enjoy the little things be happy and it's never goodbye just simply -SEE YOU LATER- I might not have known Jose very well but I always seen him in school and he would always be with itzel or saying hi to us when we would be walk to class.

My condolences to the family of itzel & Jose.
LLI-LLJ FOREVER AND ALWAYS MISSED & LOVED.
