Iva S. Chamless

Iva Chamless, aged 76, passed away on January 22, 2025. His wife and son were by his side. He was a beloved father, son, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all that met him and knew him.
Iva was born on November 10, 1948, in Bessemer, Alabama, where he spent his early years. He moved to Merritt Island, Florida in 1960. He attended Satellite High School and after moving to Rockledge, graduated from Cocoa High School. Early in his life he worked for the Florida East Coast Railroad and Sun Bank of Cocoa. He then went to work for United Parcel Service for 32 years. He also served time in the Army National Guard. Throughout his career he was known for his dedication, incredible work ethic, and willingness to always help others.
But more than anything, Iva was a devoted father and husband. He loved spending time with his son and his wife. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges may have arisen. Iva was always willing to help and give advice. In his free time, Iva enjoyed boating, fishing, and working in his yard. He was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. There was never a short story he couldn't expand into a novel.
Iva is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda, his son, Donnie, his daughter in law, Julie, his granddaughter, Katherine, his brother-in-law, Glenn Kirwan, his sister-in-law, Letitia, his niece and nephew, Morgan and Austin. He also leaves behind his two fur babies, Shadow and Linus. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him and our lives our better for having the opportunity to spend time with, learn from, and love Iva. He was truly one of the "good guys" and he will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held for all those fortunate enough to have known Iva. It will be held in the Riley Room at Rockledge Gardens Center, 2153 US-1, Rockledge, FL on March 1, 2025, from 4 – 6PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made instead to the Central Brevard Humane Society.
