Iva Delle "Ivy" Christianson, 89, of Eau Claire, died Monday December 9 at Lake Hallie Memory Care under the care of Mayo Hospice.
Ivy was born April 4, 1935 to Arthur and Gena (Wold) Wagnild at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. She attended Elk Mound schools and graduated as valedictorian from high school in 1952. She then attended Stout Institute, Eau Claire Vocational School and Wisconsin State Colleges at Whitewater and Eau Claire.
Ivy was united in marriage to Ellis "Elly" Christianson on April 30, 1955 at Elk Mound Lutheran Church. Elly and Ivy enjoyed 52 wonderful, love-filled years together until Elly's unexpected death in 2007. During their marriage, Ivy worked as a secretary for two years at Wisconsin State College at Eau Claire and 21 years as a receptionist at Midelfort Clinic. After retirement, she volunteered at Manz School in the library.
Elly and Ivy were blessed with five beloved children. Their family grew to nine beloved grandchildren and 12 beloved great-grandchildren. The children are Eric (Kim) of Menomonee Falls, Marc (Deb) of Eau Claire, Alec (Vicki) of Weyerhaeuser, Jodi (Tom) Buchholz of Eau Claire, Linc (Maryann) of Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren, Brian (Tami) Christianson, Tessa (Tim) Burns, Karyn (Matt) Bondroff, Ben Christianson, Andra (Brent) Barkey, Jacob Christianson, Steven Buchholz, Kevin (Ericca) Christianson and John (Laura) Christianson; great-grandchildren, Carter, Blake and Kellan Burns, Alex and Aubrianne Christianson, Ellis and Oslo Barkey, Samantha and Benjamin Bondroff, Clara Christianson, Elsie and Kaden Christianson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elly; parents; two sisters, Alvina Emery and Lucille Vollendorf; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Christianson.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, December 19 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3214 Golf Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701. Rev. Jamie Brieske will officiate. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church, beginning at 2 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Chippewa Valley Council, 710 South Hastings Way, Eau Claire. Elly enjoyed many happy hours at Camp Phillips with the Scouts.
