Iva Dean Pendergrass went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Iva was born on August 16, 1944 in Athens, Tennessee to the late Jewell and Herbert Torbett. She was a dedicated member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church. Iva never hesitated to help someone in need, she often was a caregiver for family members in need. She loved flowers, gardening, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Clarence Ray Pendergrass; brothers, William "Bill" (Shirley) Torbett, Kenneth (Cynthia) Torbett, Marvin (Donna) Torbett, and Gary Torbett; his sisters and brothers in law, Irene (Paul) Clayton, LD (Elnita) Pendergrass, Butch (Retha) Pendergrass, Anna Mae (Paul) Staton, Junior (Elva) Pendergrass, Johnny Pendergrass, Billy Pendergrass, and Reba Pendergrass; along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Iva Renea (Douglas) Wheeler, Tammy Kay (Michael "Bo") Stokes, and Clarence "Sonny" Ray (April) Pendergrass; her grandchildren, Courtney Stokes (Garrett) Davis, Amy Wheeler (Heath) Stephens, Casey Stokes, Kristen Wheeler Miller, Austin Stokes, Madalynn Pendergrass, and Makenna Pendergrass; great grandchildren, Kaiden Stephens, Jaxon Stephens, Willow Miller, and Charlie Miller; along with a host of extended family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland with Michael Stokes officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the service. A graveside service is to follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with her nephews serving as pallbearers,and Kaiden Stephens, Jaxon Stephens will serve as honory pallbearers.
