Ivan Ray Cook, 48, of Elgin, TX, passed away on January 12, 2026. His mother, Mattie Mae Cook gave Ivan his dad's middle name, “Ray”. Ivan's parents were so full of joy as they welcomed the life of their baby boy. Unfortunately tragedy happened and Ivan's parents passed away when he was only a baby, he was only months old. Ivan never got the chance to know his parents, never got to see their faces or hold their hands. Growing up Ivan wasn't always dealt the best hand in life, but he never gave up and was always smiling with a heart full of joy. Though Ivan was born an only child to his parents, he gained a second mom, his grandmother, Luella and a host of aunts and uncles that were like his brothers and sisters, and cousins that loved as a brother as well. Ivan had family and friends that loved him dearly and wanted nothing but the best for him. Ivan always knew how to cheer someone up and would always offer a helping hand to his family and friends. Ivan loved basketball, dancing, singing, and having special Sunday dinners with family. His favorite color was blue and his favorite animals were cats. Over the years Ivan became a father to 14 beautiful children whom he loved so very much. He was so proud of each of his children from the oldest, Rachel and Ivan Jr, to the middle, Ashley, Jacob, Shelsie, Devon, I'Leja, De'Ivan, De'Ivanique, Monaja, De'Ishalon, Raylasha, and the two youngest, Eli and Trinity. To all of his children, he loved you, and to all of his family and friends, he loved you all so much. As a close cousin to Ivan, I wanted share a small glimpse of Ivan's life with you, as how I remembered. In closing, our prayer for Ivan is that he may now rest in peace. That he will now be joyfully reunited with his parents and will be able to walk with them hand in hand on promise-land, and that he may also be reunited with other loved ones in a glorified state that will never be separated.
A visitation will be open to the public. Details are listed below. Please leave condolences, memories, and well wishes for the Cook family beneath the visitation information.
