Ivan Devern Eggers

Services for Ivan Devern Eggers, 92, of Des Moines, who passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A private family luncheon and burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa.

Ivan was born July 29, 1933 in Osceola, Iowa the son of Vernen Claud and Elsie Elizabeth (Putney) Eggers. He graduated from Osceola High School in the class of 1951. He met the love of his life, Deloris Marleen Woodard in high school and they were married on January 20, 1952. They had lived in Des Moines since graduating high school. He worked in construction his entire life opening Eggers Bilt Homes in the mid 1950’s.

He enjoyed traveling in his later years and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Stephen (Dorothy) Eggers, Mark (Sally) Eggers, David (Josetta) Eggers and Melinda Eggers; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Deloris; son Jon Eggers; grandson Kaine Eggers; and three brothers.

Memorials in memory of Ivan many be given to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
