Ivan Minteer Obituary
December 21, 1936 - March 12, 2026
Ivan Dean Minteer, 89, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026.
Born December 21, 1936, in Aledo, Illinois, he was the son of Earnest C. Minteer and Mona Long and graduated from Winola High School in 1955.
Dean served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959, Private 1st Class, stationed aboard the USS Graffias and USS Cimarron. He later worked for State Farm Insurance Company as a Claims Superintendent for 25 years.
He married Shirleen Ann Stuehm on August 21, 1959; they later divorced. In 1984 he married Elaine Fawcett, who preceded him in death in 1991.
Dean loved spending time on the golf course and especially enjoyed traveling to Florida and enjoying the game with family and friends.
Another of Dean's favorite pastimes was attending auctions and estate sales. On many weekends he could be found searching for hidden treasures, often returning home with a special find.
The St. Louis Cardinals were his favorite team and he rarely missed the chance to watch them play.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda Renee Williams; brothers Larry and Ronald Minteer; half-brothers Elwood and Maynard Minteer; and half-sister Darlene Needham.
Survivors include his sons Gregory (Chris) Minteer, Michael (Tracey) Minteer, and Scott (Brooke) Minteer; grandchildren Courtney Weimer, Alisha Rosse, Andrea Bell, Grace Minteer, Sam Minteer; and former wife Shirleen Brackevelt.
The family would like to acknowledge the dedicated medical staff and the incredible care givers involved in his care.
A private family service will be held March 16, 2026, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, a private burial will take place at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Quad Cities Veteran Outreach Center 4515 N. Fairmount Street, Davenport Iowa 52806. www.qcvetsoutreach.com.
