Ivan Silverman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Edina on Jan. 13, 2026.
Ivan H. Silverman, age 61 of Edina passed suddenly, but peacefully, at home on 1/9/2026. Preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Hella; sister, Rae Anne Moe, nephew/nice Anthony and Samantha Moe; and brother Matthew Klennert.

Ivan was a guy of many talents. He split his work career between 15 years at our family's Printed Circuit Board Mfg. business as a Process Engineer, then moved on to help Julie as co-owner of our Internet Service Provider (ISP) business. He peppered in some side hustles including working as a stagehand for many large venues in the Twin Cities.

He was a brother at Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity at the U of MN, and had a special place in his heart for YMCA Camp Warren in Eveleth, MN. He lettered in wrestling at Golden Valley High School and graduated from Hopkins Lindberg. He met Julie in high school through Junior Achievement. He was the President of our JA company (Julie was a VP) and with the help of their JA friends/teammates, together they captured the trophy for the JA National Service Company of the Year in 1982.

Ivan was involved in the JCC and the theater when he was younger and appeared as an extra in several movies including "Untamed Heart". He finished two full marathons with Julie, Grandma's and Marine Corps Marathon in Wash DC.

.

Ivan was a fabulous cook and grillmaster. He'd drive the neighborhood dogs insane every 4th of July as he slow cooked copious pounds of ribs in our front driveway. As a Dad, he kept his children well-fed and coached football and baseball for their teams. He shared his love of cooking and inspired his daughter Jackie to become a professional chef. But his favorite job was being a Grandpa.

Survived by wife of 40 years, Julie; children David, Andrew (Melissa) Silverman, and Jacqueline (Michael) Hefferan; granddaughter and partner-in-crime Anabelle. Birthmother Lee Anne (Gehrke) Klennert and birthfather/step-mom Wilfred (Sharon) Osborne. Brothers Andy (Connie) Klennert and Donald (Mary) Osborne.

As per the note and photo from David Ogden, my brother, I knew and remember Ivan fondly from our days at Camp Warren. The picture is of a group of Senior campers that went on a rock-climbing trip on the shore of Lake Superior. That's us at the top of the rock face after the ascent.

My older brother and I knew Ivan from his Camp Warren days. He was a fellow camper for my brother and an older camper and Kitchen Boy for me. I don't think I have seen him since his Camp Warren days but I remember his humor and his grace. The photo is one from his camper days with my brother also in the frame.
