Ivanhoe Thompson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory on Sep. 20, 2022.
Ivan also known as Wilus, was born on December 8, 1932, to his parents Martina Taylor and Thomas Thompson in Bull Bay St. Andrew Jamaica. At the age of 3 months old his mom passed away leaving his father with the help of his Godmother Gody Coolie and her mother Mama Jane to raise him and his two older brother Dolly and Alex. All Three boys attended Bull Bay All Age school. Unfortunately, Ivan's brothers proceeded him in death.
As a young man, Ivan worked numerous jobs until he migrated to England in the 70's where he became a father of two daughters. Jacqueline and Tracey. A few years later he migrated to United states, were he resided in Brooklyn NY. He worked at Booth Memorial Hospital in Queens New York until he retired.
Ivan Married Evadnie McGann on November 08, 1989, in Brooklyn, NY where they chose to reside until Ivan retired. Then they decided to come out of the cold and into the sunshine and relocated to Port Charlotte Florida. In Port Charlotte Ivan attended First Baptist Church on Forest Nelson, where he gave his life to Christ and was baptized. He was also a frequent visitor at Emmanuel Assembly in Northport, the church his wife attended.
Ivan was a man of many talents he enjoyed cooking, he could cook ANYTHING, but he specialized in cooking fish, some good fish soup and he could really make a tasty steak. Ivan also made his own tonic. Ivan was good on his feet and loved to dance and enjoyed listening to a variety of music. Ivan believed in staying fit and exercised regularly, went swimming and would take long walks around his neighborhood. He also enjoyed fishing.
Unfortunately, Ivan became very sick for the last six years of his life. His wife, Evadnie, faithfully took care of him at their home until the Lord called him home on September 1, 2022.
Ivan is survived by His wife of 32 years, his two daughters: Jaqueline and Tracy and his three step- children: Keron, KerryAnn and Lawrence. Ivanhoe you are gone but not forgotten, you will live in our hearts, rest in peace.
