Ivie was one of the kindest, nicest people I had ever met. He greeted me warmly on my first day as a new professor at Gulf Coast Community College and made me feel so welcome. He was a very special man, a pillar of the college and our community. If there was a college function, he was there. Even after retirement, he would come to the holiday celebrations. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.
