"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." – John 11:25
With heavy hearts and deep faith in God's eternal promises, we announce the passing of our beloved Ivonne Valenzuela, age 24, who was called home to the Lord on September 22, 2025.
Ivonne was a light in this world-a joyful, thoughtful, and fiercely loving young woman who touched the lives of everyone around her. Born on February 4, 2001 in Ketchum, Idaho, she lived each day of her life with curiosity, joyful laughter, compassion, faith, and devotion to her family. She was a class president of North DeSoto Middle School. In 2019 she was a proud graduate of C.E. Byrd High School where she was a Top Jacket.
A true lover of stories, Ivonne found joy in books, movies, and the shows that brought her comfort and connection. She loved solving Rubik's Cubes, laying on the beach, sipping boba with her sisters, and rewatching Lilo & Stitch or Friends with a smile that lit up the room. Her sense of humor, love for cozy holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, and deep bonds with her loved ones made every moment with her feel special.
Ivonne shared a beautiful friendship with her dog, Whiskey, and found peace in simple joys - a classic song, a warm drink, or time spent laughing with those she loved. Her love wasn't quiet - it was the kind that you felt in every hug, every text, every thoughtful gesture. She gave her heart fully and faithfully, just as Christ teaches us to do.
She was a devoted daughter, a cherished sister, and a treasured friend. Her family was the center of her world, and she loved them beyond measure - a love that continues on, now unbound by time or distance.
Ivonne is survived by her loving family: Mother Blanca Skocibusic, Step-father Ivan Skocibusic, Father Ivan Valenzuela. Sisters Kathy Melendez and Giselle Valenzuela and her brother, Cole Richardson. Grandparents Jose and Socorro Velazquez. Aunt Beatriz Diaz and Uncle Angel Velazquez, as well as countless friends who feel the depth of this loss. Though her time with us was brief, her impact is eternal.
Active pallbearers: Ivan Skocibusic, Jose Velazquez, Cole Richardson, Angel Velazquez, Boris Skocibusic, Luis Diaz, and Daniel Melendez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, followed by private interment. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Osborn Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary to follow where friends and loved ones may gather in prayer and remembrance.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to friends near and far.
In honoring Ivonne's life, the family asks that you carry forward her spirit: read a good book, enjoy a sunset at the beach, tell someone you love them, or simply be kind - just as she always was.
"Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
Amen."
