Ivor Bhola

Ivor Inskip Bhola, affectionately known as "Skip," was born on November 17, 1950 in Trinidad, West Indies to the late Dorothy and Decosta Bhola. He was raised in St. Andrews, Grenada and completed grade school in the local parish. Ivor was the eldest brother to 5 sisters and 4 brothers, and left Grenada around the age of 18 to begin his adulthood in New York City.
While in New York, Ivor worked as a Taxi Driver and other odd jobs. During a trip to his local bank, Ivor met a beautiful teller named Jacquelin Jones. The couple began dating and ultimately married on August 30, 1980 in Brooklyn, NY. Through their union, God blessed them with two beautiful children, Leticia and Julien.
Ivor led a successful career in the Oil & Gas Industry which led him to ultimately settle his family in Houston, TX. He worked diligently for over 30 years as Planner and Project Superintendent in the US and Caribbean Islands on projects for well-known brands including Exxon, Conoco, Shell, and many others. Known for his strong work ethic, expert knowledge, and stellar leadership skills, Ivor became well-respected in the industry by both his peers and those in management.
In addition to his career, Ivor took great pride in his family. He was a strong patriarch who gave selflessly to family and friends. As an incredible cook, he loved hosting large holiday gatherings and barbecues. He was a great motivator, listener, encourager, and always gave great advice. As a man of great faith, Ivor was a long-time member of the All Saints Church in Stafford, TX. As a proud Grenadian, he was an active member of the Grenadian Houston Association.
In his latter years, his greatest joy was found in being papa to his three grandchildren, Zachari, Jordyn, and Zamaya. He loved them endlessly and spent a great amount of quality time bonding with them and nurturing them.
On June 3, 2024, Ivor was called home to his eternal rest in heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Decosta Bhola, and his brothers Reno Bhola and Terry Bhola. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 43 years, Jacquelin Bhola; his daughters Leticia Bhola and Indeara Decimus; his son Julien Bhola; his grandchildren Zachari, Jordyn, and Zamaya; his sisters Gemma (Colon) Andrews, Zobida (Glen) Mirjah, Zoila Steed, Nadia Cadet, and Zalima (David) Sinclair; brothers Higgs (Marla) Bhola, and Wendell Bhola; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly and will forever cherish his memory.
