J. (Johnnie) Laverne Tipton Cable, age 92, of Maryville, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones, on November 5, 2025. Of the Baptist faith, Laverne was born May 13, 1933. Preceded in death by parents Vernie Tipton and Annabelle Bourne, brother Elvis "Bud" Tipton, sister Barbara Skinner, one child at birth Deborah Kay, and the love of her life, Clell L. Cable. Survivors include, son Steve Cable (Janie), daughter Debbie Brewster (Tommy). Grandchildren: Gary Lynn (Jennifer), Greg Cable (Kasey), Lindsay Brewster Moloney (Christian), Logan Brewster (Autumn), Lacey Hill. Great Grandchildren: Alexis Manges, Sydney Buckner, Taylor Alexander, Cameron Cable, Adrienne Hill, Sophie Brewster. Great-great grandchildren: Colton, and Wrenly. Sister: Bunny Dixon and special sister in laws: Merle Tipton and Cricket Horne. Our family extends a loving thank you to Tammi, as well as the other exceptional caregivers, Sonya and Arin, who all went above and beyond making her days brighter. Laverne loved cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinners for her family. She especially enjoyed spending her evenings watching her favorite soap opera with her sister-in-law Merle, while her beloved cat, Miss Kitty sat on her lap. Laverne was also an enthusiastic fan of the Lady Vols and rarely missed watching them on television. One of the things she valued most was her camera. She loved capturing special moments spent together with her family and friends through photos. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Smith Trinity Chapel. A service will follow at 12:00 PM with Rex Everett officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Grandview Cemetery.
