J. David Meyer Jr.

J. David Meyer, Jr. passed away in Dalton, GA on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Dave was born on April 11, 1939, in Tampa, FL to Catrine and John Davidson Meyer. He attended Kent State University and attained a degree in Graphic Design.
In 1962, Dave met the love of his life, Barbara Jean Needham. They married and had three children: Kristin, Courtney, and John Davidson Meyer, III. When the children were young, the family moved to Jacksonville, FL, where they lived for over 36 years. Dave owned a successful graphic design company before moving to Dalton to be closer to his daughter and her family. In Dalton, he was a successful financial consultant with Tarkenton Financial.
Dave loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, sailing, golf, and Florida Gator football. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Catrine and John Davidson Meyer. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Barbara; children, Kristin Webster (Albert), Courtney Myers (Ray), and David Meyer (Amy); siblings, Lin Swiney (Charles) and Steven Meyer (Rennie); grandchildren, Anthony, Clinton, Tylor, Bentley, Savannah, and Juliette; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for John Davidson Meyer, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Reverend Matt Evans officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Whitfield Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Rock Bridge Community Church, 121 W. Crawford St. Dalton, GA 30720.
