J.W was born on August 19, 1926 in Kennett, Missouri to Alfanzo and Burley Tedford. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He loved harness horse racing. During the race season, J.W. lived at the track. He loved to travel and would never stay in one place for too long. J.W. did not like to fly, so he drove everywhere, even to Arizona where he wintered.
He is survived by his children: Sharon Ball, Terry (Sharon) Tedford, Rocky (Shela) Tedford, and Gale (Mike) McCall; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings and parents.
