Jacalyn Biersmith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Better Place Funeral & Cremation Services on Dec. 3, 2025.
Jacalyn Marie Biersmith (née King) passed away on November 21, 2025, in Denver, CO at the age of 72 from complications of Parkinson's. Jackie was born February 28, 1953, and grew up in Dearborn, MI attending Sacred Heart and Dearborn High Schools. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and a Master of Business Administration at the University of Detroit and put her academic degrees to good use consistently rising to management positions throughout her professional career.
Prior to Denver, Jackie had previously lived in Dallas, TX for 20+ years where she raised her sons Justin and Zach. She very much enjoyed her involvement in the kids' school activities at the Park Cities Schools from kindergarten through high school and volunteered at numerous school events always happy to bake cookies, bring birthday treats to the classroom, and sell food at football games – especially if Justin was playing! Jackie used her creative skills and her love to make beautiful memory albums for Justin and Zach combining meaningful memorabilia with family photographs and used those same creative skills to gift her siblings with handcrafted needlepoint Christmas ornaments. Jackie's siblings and their spouses loved her immensely and will dearly miss her. Sharon Little (Leo), Judy Lorenz, Christy Dobrovich (Dave), Bob King (Melba), and Tracy King live in states across the country in Oregon, Michigan, Tennessee, and California but they always found time to visit Jackie whether she was living in Minnesota, California, Texas, or Colorado. Likewise, she found time to visit them with lots of cross-country trips. Jackie loved traveling and in addition to visiting her siblings she enjoyed several international trips with visits to France, Spain, Italy, Hawaii, Mexico and a couple cruises. And, even when her health prevented vacation travels, she lived vicariously through her TV viewing of the Survivor and Amazing Race shows. Jackie's friend Rhonda remembers they would travel to big cities to "hit the town" dancing and exploring the sites: Chicago, St. Louis, Toronto, Detroit and NYC. Rhonda says, "I would like her family to know she was always in my heart and my memories." And from her friend Shirley, "I have all good memories of Jackie and all the fun things we did when we were young and I'm glad we always kept in touch. She called me two weeks ago and sounded so good." Jackie always loved reading and would share books and reviews with her siblings and friends as favorite novels were passed back and forth. The Half Price Bookstore in Dallas was a favorite destination for Jackie as she searched for recommended books and couldn't wait to report on her finds. Jackie is survived by her son Zach, her son Justin and his wife, Katie, and their two children Aspen and Dean; Jackie adored her grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends who all have fond memories of Jackie. A memorial service will be held on December 6th at 10 a.m. at the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas officiated by Deacon Jake Schroepfer from Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The The Parkinson's Foundation or the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. An Irish Blessing Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

My fondest memories of my cousin Jackie were when my sister Sheila and I would spend the weekend at Aunt Fran and Uncle Bert's house. Jackie, Christie, Sheila and I would ride bikes all over town, watch The Twilight Zone in their basement, (screaming like banshees, especially at the Pig Face episode), eat raw potatoes, go to the "Seashore Pool," which always resulted in sunburns, and slept in their attic bedroom that I thought was the coolest thing ever! Everyone went their separate ways once the teenage and adult years arrived, but these memories were some of the best of my childhood years. You'll forever be in out hearts and memories, Jackie. "May you be at peace and rest in the arms of the angels." Much love, Debbie
