Jace Zembsch Obituary

Visit the Rea Funeral Chapel website to view the full obituary.

Jace Jamison Zembsch, age 12, of Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 23, 2013, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Derek and Brooklynn Zembsch, who survive in the home.

Because of his father's Air Force career, Jace had the unique experience of calling several places home. He lived in Columbus, Mississippi (Columbus AFB) until 2015; Scott AFB, Illinois until 2018; Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma until 2022; and Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas until 2024. Since then, he made his home at Whiteman AFB in Missouri. Jace dreamed of one day serving in the Air Force himself, following in his dad's footsteps.

Jace was a sixth-grade student who loved building with Legos, playing video games, especially PC games, and watching his favorite movies and TV shows. His Legos and games brought him endless enjoyment and were a big part of what made him "Jace."

Most of all, Jace was a Christian who held tightly to his faith throughout his courageous battle with cancer. He found comfort in knowing Jesus would be there to welcome him home.

In addition to his parents, Jace is survived by four siblings: Jackson, Oliver, Harper, and Morgan; maternal grandparents, Dusten and Barbara Hall of Bolivar, Missouri; paternal grandparents, Terry Zembsch of Illinois, Shandra Muse of Springfield, Missouri, Cristy Zembsch of Republic, Missouri, and Mendel Needham of Bolivar, Missouri; maternal great-grandfather, Darwyn Hall of Stockton, Missouri; paternal great-grandparents, George and Teresa Muse of Springfield, Missouri; paternal great-grandmother, Zoe Spitz of The Villages, Florida; and several uncles, aunts, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his baby brother, Henry Zembsch; maternal great-grandparents, Gary and Patsy Fisher; and paternal great-grandfather, Bill Zembsch.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Captain Antoine officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers and plants, Jace asked that anyone wishing to give a gift consider donating Lego sets or board games, which will be delivered to Children's Mercy Hospital for other children to enjoy.

Service arrangements are in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, Missouri.
