Obituary published on Legacy.com by Garnand Funeral Homes - Garden City on Dec. 2, 2025.
Jacinto Carrillo Romo, was a beacon of kindness, friendship, and selflessness. Born on August 17, 1951, in the humble town of Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico, he embarked on a journey of faith and service that would touch countless lives. On November 22, 2025, Jacinto's earthly chapter concluded in Independence, Missouri, as he was called home after a valiant battle with internal skin cancer.
Jacinto's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit. He was a devoted Christian who found solace and joy in his faith, living out the words of Jesus Christ, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). His life was indeed lived to the fullest, surrounded by family, friends, and the community he cherished.
Preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 34 years, Dorelia Zamarripa Carrillo, Jacinto's legacy of love continues through his adoring family. He is survived by his daughters, Maria A. Montoya, Rachel R. Rodriguez, Rebecca A. Bunch, and Natalia Link; his sons, Jacinto Carrillo, Jr. and Justino R. Carrillo; and his siblings, Guadalupe, Rebeca, Jesus "Chuy," Tiburcio, Raul, and his brother and father in Christ, Juan Manuel Orona. His grandchildren, Jonathan, Jacob III, Ashley Elizabeth Ortega, and Camila Dorelia Bunch, along with his great-grandson, Arlo Leonel O., will forever treasure the memories of their beloved grandfather.
Jacinto's interests were as vast as his heart. On any given Sunday, or indeed any day that ended in "y," he could be found in church, praising the Lord, or cruising around Garden City in his cherished 1964 Ford Falcon, which he polished until it gleamed like a pearl. His joy was palpable as he shared his passion with his best friend and fishing partner, Tony, discussing the best fishing spots and the prime bait for catfish at Tony's Antique & Comic Shoppe.
But it was on the banks of rivers and lakes, rod in hand and surrounded by his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, that Jacinto found his happiest place. He was a father not just in name, but in action, giving his time generously and teaching that the most valuable gift one can offer is presence. "Not all dads had time, not all dads made time, and not all dads gave their time, but he did."
Jacinto Carrillo Romo lived his best retired life next to family and friends, becoming a seasoned fisherman of hearts and homes. As a motivational speaker would declare, "The greatest among you will be your servant" (Matthew 23:11). Jacinto truly embodied this ideal, serving others with a joyful heart and an open hand.
As we celebrate his life and mourn his passing, we remember the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Jacinto did just that, transforming the ordinary into extraordinary through acts of love and kindness. He was quite a catch, and he will be profoundly missed by the many hearts he held and healed. Today, we honor a man who was not just part of our lives but part of our very souls. Rest in peace, dear daddy, until we meet again.
