BROOKPORT, Ill. - Jack William Anderson, 74, of Brookport, passed away at 7:13 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at the Harry Statham Brookport Gymnasium with Rev. Trad York officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Jack worked at B.H. Green and Son Construction Company for 13 years then worked at Lock and Dam 52 from 1985-2013 as a lock and dam operator and crane operator. He was a member of Waldo Baptist Church and Bay City Masonic Lodge #771. Jack loved his hometown of Brookport and served it faithfully as an Alderman for Ward 3. He served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972 with the 27th Transportation Company.
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cindy (Larimer) Anderson; granddaughters, Haley Anderson and Mia Anderson; sister, Jo Carol Anderson; mother-in-law, Pat Graves; several nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Edith (Darnell) Anderson; son, Jackie Lee Anderson; brother, Jerry Anderson and wife Pattie.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening, Sept. 17, at the Harry Statham Brookport Gymnasium with 6 p.m. Masonic Rites.
Memorials may be made in Jack's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Nix, Odus Tolbert, Greg Williamson, Beau Anderson, Jered Anderson, and Austin Orr.
