Jack Balcom Obituary
He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching college and NBA basketball with his wife. He also loved the outdoors and counted camping, boating, and gardening among his favorites. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and proudly served in Panama during the early 1950's.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Balcom, Jr.; brother, Jim Balcom; brother, Scott Balcom; and son, Cary Balcom.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrill Balcom; daughter, Brenda Pipes; son, Curtis (Liz) Balcom; son, Clark (Alison) Balcom; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob (Margaret) Balcom and Paul (Connie) Balcom.
A celebration of life will take place on a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Hidden Acres Christian Center or Westhaven Community.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Boone County Hospital who provided compassionate care during Jack's final days.
