Jack Bittermann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farkas Funeral Home on Mar. 2, 2026.
Jack F. Bittermann, age 90, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026.

Survived by his sons, John Bittermann, and Mark (Dawn) Bittermann.

Preceded in death by his wife, Carol Bittermann; parents, Milton and Viola Bittermann; brother, Milton (Josephine) Bittermann; sister, June (Roy) Mill, and his niece, Diane Hill.

Lifelong resident of Joliet, Jack Bittermann died peacefully in his sleep as he always wished he would. He was a member of various Sheet Metal locals thru his nearly 40 years as a tinner in the area. After a workplace accident in the early 90s, Jack and his wife Carol became snowbirds, wintering at The Villages in Florida, where they enjoyed golfing, playing cards and traveling. Prior to that, he was an avid gardener. He served our nation proudly in the late 1950's where he was stationed in Dachau, giving him and his recent bride Carol, the chance to enjoy traveling Europe when duty didn't call. That was a lifelong marriage that lasted almost 60 years until she was taken too soon having suffered from Alzheimer's for 4 years. A disease that also took its toll on Jack just a few years after her 2016 passing.

As per Jack's wishes there will be no visitation. Graveside services for Jack will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park II (Hills of Rest) on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated. A celebration of life for Jack will be held at a later date.
