Connie A. Biggs
Connie Ann Biggs (nee Pastore) passed away on the morning of her 80th birthday, surrounded by her husband, Herbert W. Biggs, her six children and extended family, including sister Theresa Kaczmarek.
Connie was born in Joliet, Illinois on February 21, 1946, and raised in Crest Hill by her parents Theodore and Rosemary Pastore. All were members of the former St. Anne's Church in Crest Hill, and later, St. Mary's Church in Plainfield, Illinois. She had a late brother, Theodore, and is survived by her sister Theresa. Connie was a graduate of Lockport West High School in Lockport, Illinois.
In 1966, Connie married Jack J. Awalt, whom with she gave birth to six children who survive her, Jacquie Kaegebein (Mark), Eric Awalt (Shelli), Steven Awalt, Allison Rutkowski (Mark), Joseph Awalt, and James Awalt. Husband Jack passed away at 44 years of age in 1988, after which Connie raised her children alone until marrying Herbert Biggs, her widower after 36 years of marriage, with whom she had stepsons Steve (Mina) and Ken (Robin) Biggs.
Her children gave her 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Jon Kaegebein (Anastaysia), Josh Kaegebein, Keith Wolff, Tyler Schmalholz, Molly Awalt, Olivia Biggs, Paige Biggs, Alix Awalt, Dalton Awalt, Sophia Biggs, Jacob Rutkowski, Ethan Awalt, Christian Awalt, Madison Awalt, Brody Rutkowski, Annaleigh Schmalholz, Liam Wolff, and Forrest Wolff all of whom she loved and doted on.
Connie was a very hard worker on behalf of her family, serving on the human resources staff of CB&I in Plainfield, Illinois, until her retirement.
She was always a woman who put her loved ones first, always there for her family and friends to the point of selflessness. She enjoyed listening to music, especially that of Elvis Presley and the music of "her time," the 1950s-1960s. She was also a dedicated collector of angel figurines of all varieties and decorating her home where she lived since 1977, with her "pretty pretties," candles, plants and flowers, and pictures everywhere of her children and grandchildren and her late, beloved Maltese Snowy, who brought her much joy during his life.
Connie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, and with whom she left a lifetime of enduring memory.
