Mike Christensen

Age 62 of Gardner, Illinois, died Sunday, February 22, 2026 at The Pearl Nursing Home of Joliet, Illinois.

Born April 26, 1963 in Morris, Illinois, Michael Theodore Christensen is a son of Theodore Christensen and the late Linda (Kociss) Christensen. He was raised and educated in Gardner and graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School with the Class of 1981. Mike was a proud member of Laborer's Local Union 75 and worked for Exelon Corporation Braidwood Station in several capacities for many years. While he enjoyed line dancing in his youth, being outdoors is where he was happiest. Mike was a past member of the South Wilmington Fireman's Club and took great pleasure in hunting and fishing. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, treasuring his Harley Davidson, and found any reason to go out for a ride. Mike traveled across the country on his Harley, and particularly looked forward to trips to Sturgis in South Dakota.

Survivors include his father, Ted Christensen of Gardner, and two daughters: Melissa (Andy) Bendoratitis of Manhattan, IL and Jessica Christensen (fiancé: Nicholas Cullinan) of Streator, IL; as well as four grandchildren, one nephew, Aaron Paquette, and one great nephew.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, and one sister: Candi Steinhilber.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services at this time.
