Jack Blue Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Posey Funeral Directors - North Augusta on Feb. 2, 2024.
Evans, GA – Mr. Jack Stanley Blue, Jr., 70, entered into rest January 30, 2024. Celebration of Life Services are pending and will be announced at a later date.
Jack was born April 15, 1953, to the late Jack Stanley Blue, Sr. and Eva Tillman Blue, and was raised in Charlotte, NC. Following graduation from Catawba Valley Community College, he moved to Augusta, GA to work at Augusta National Golf Club. Jack enjoyed 30 years of employment with the National, eventually becoming the Par 3 Superintendent. Jack once said that if he couldn't play golf for a living, then he would grow grass for those who could. Additionally, he was owner and operator of Environmental Life Plantings, providing premier landscape design with lawn and garden expertise across the greater Augusta area since 1986. Jack's passion and knowledge of environmental science was second to none a true green thumb. Landscaping was his calling and he was not afraid to pick up a blower or sprayer and work right alongside his crew. Jack was an avid golfer who loved spending time with his golfing buddies. His talent and affinity for golf allowed Jack to relish in multiple hole-in-one celebrations throughout his life. Deep sea fishing and sailing were some of his favorite activities and Jack loved adventure, especially while traveling with his beautiful wife and sweetheart, Sue. He had a soft heart for animals and had many beloved fury friends throughout his life. Jack will be fondly remembered for his charisma as a storyteller and his larger-than-life personality. To know him was to love him.
Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of fourteen years Sue Gibson Blue; a sister Babs Blue Jones (Sam) of Greensboro, NC; Sue's three daughters, Danyel Gillies (Trevor) of Evans, GA, Chastity Hayes (Chad) of Aiken, SC, Kathryn Russell of North Augusta, SC; a nephew Bryan Jones (Kathryn) of Hickory, NC; a niece, Laurie Jones Martin (David) of Charlotte, NC; Sue's eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA Albrech Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, SC 29801, www.letlovelive.org

I'm very saddened about hearing of Jack's passing. He was not only my boss back in the early days, but a great friend and mentor. I looked up to him a lot as a young man back then. He was a hellava guy. Miss ya...RL-

I´m so sorry! I met Jack only a few years ago when he wandered in to my place of work.
I immediately recognized him as the ( very) tall man with a head full of blonde hair , who always wore a pink pastel jacket " behind the ropes." We had much to discuss ! RIP

Sue and family. We are heart broken. Jack has been an integral part of our lives for so long. Not only a golf buddy, landscape artist but a better friend. We will certainly miss him and his happy go lucky smile and attitude. A real loss to those who knew him. I love the portrait of his golf swing. Kent and Suzi Gilbreath

Jackie Blue, a personality that you would never forget. He was very eccentric, deep soul, artist, loved his golf, loved his Sue and just a joy to be around. I never met Jackie Blue until we went on a golf trip to Ireland, but knew the name. He was an interesting gentleman with extreme intellect! I loved to hear of all of your stories, they were the best.We will forever remember you and only wish you were still here. Blessings to you Sue, never forget the love !!

I will always remember Jack for his bubbly personality in my drive thru at South State Bank in Evans. I will remember our fun conversations. I will truly miss seeing his smiling face. It was always a pleasure to do his transaction. May God and God´s Peace be with his family.
Sincerely,
Linda Cloer

I was looking for a garden to replace red Georgia clay. Jack and Derek created a magnificent sanctuary for me on Milledge Road and it was part of the Sacred Heart Garden Tour in 2015. He was magnificent and I was my place of peace. God bless you Jack. You will never be forgotten. God bless you sweet and amazing heart.
