Jack Laurie Bobbitt, Jr., 71 of Austin passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Jack was born to Jack Sr. and Olivia Bobbit in Amarillo, Texas on his father's birthday on October 17, 1954. Jack married his high school sweetheart Laura Kay Hersom on March 23, 1974, and were married until her passing on February 5, 2014. He was a Saint of all Saints as a faithful and loving care giver to his wife, in-laws and brother-in-law. As in the words of Mother Teresa "It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving." He gave beyond measure his love, time and money to all. He loved to be a trickster, jokester and all-around aggravator. He saw the humor in all things, and nothing embarrassed him. He was extremely patriotic and loved the American Flag and what it stood for. Jack was an aficionado of fireworks! He aspired to put on the best non-professional 4th of July firework display for over 30 years at the Edgewater Beach Laura Bobbitt Park on Lake Travis where he also served on the Board of Directors. After his retirement on June 1, 2021, from Enterprise Products Natural Gas with 47 years of service Jack decided to live life to the fullest. With numerous trips to the casino (too many to count), riding "one" of his motorcycles because having just one wouldn't make sense. He was Captain Jack of the pontoon boat and enjoyed his time in the hot tub. He had a variety of trips already in the works for 2026 including another two weeks in his favorite cabin on the Conejos River in Colorado with his 10 month old Blue Heeler sidekick Tess. He was also looking forward to Cabo San Lucas, Maine and Alaska.

Jack is survived by his daughter Emily and son-in-law Matthew Turner, siblings Blanche Zabloski, Paula Glynn (Bob), Linda Danz and Arthur A. Bobbitt (Sharlamar), numerous nieces, nephews and friend Judy Wilcox. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Laura, parents Jack Sr. and Olivia Bobbitt, In-laws Albert and Joyce Hersom, siblings Freddie, Arthur and Arnold Bobbitt, sister-in-law Peggy Bobbitt and brother-in-law's Frederick (Ski) Zabloski and Stephen (Steve) Danz.

In the scared silence of farewell, Jack is released into the arms of God. He will live on in the memories and hearts of his family and friends.
