Jack Lamar Braswell, 89, of Monroe, NC passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, September 19, 2025. He was born in Union County, NC on September 4, 1936, son to the late Lloyd W. Braswell and Fronnie Hinson Braswell. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Benjie Braswell and two sisters, Linda Honeycutt and LeeDale Austin.
Jack loved to Coon Hunt with his friends Rance Rowell and David Clontz and their special dogs- Black, Jack-O and Chuck in Rance’s old Station Wagon “The Chuck Wagon”. His favorite place other than home was on the banks of Wilson Creek at Edgemont, NC in a camper. He worked from 1978 until 2011 with Carnes-Miller Gear Company, where he also worked alongside Russell, his brother. The two also farmed together and were very close. Even in their spare time they enjoyed their close friendship and bond. He loved John Deere Tractors. Jack also enjoyed riding horses with his daughter Tara. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with each of them.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with burial to follow at Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Peggy Knight Braswell, a son, Lamar Wilson Braswell (Kim), three daughters, Cathy Tarlton (Tony), Tammy McGee (Jeff), Tara Mullis (Eugene), ten grandchildren, Sawyer Mullis, Greyson Mullis and Ellison Mullis, Hunter McGee (Brooke), Liz Bergman (Cory), and Luke McGee (Elaina), Nick Tarlton (Rebecca) and Matthew Tarlton (Tria Metzler), Miranda Braswell and Jamie Braswell, seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee Tarlton, Kassidy Tarlton, Patton McGee, Ava McGee, Faith Bergman, Weston Bergman, and Meredith McGee, brother, Russell Braswell, and sister, Becky Williams.
