Thank you, Jack, for being such a wonderful light in so many people's lives. Kind, loving, friendly, giving... you are just a stellar being and will be dearly missed by those who love you. You and Millie take care of each other up there!... I can hear you both laughing right now :) We'll see you on the other side. And of course, because of your generous nature, you would forgo flowers to help others in need. Today I will donate to the Gazelle Foundation in your honor. Love you, my friend <3 Shine on.

I met Jack when I first started racing in Austin, and saw him at nearly every race after that. He was a real stalwart, who always had a smile and a kind word to offer after the race. I told him several times that he and his contemporary athletes were truly inspirational to many of us younger guys. Jack was a man among men, and I feel truly honored to have known him, even in this limited capacity.

My heartfelt condolences to the whole Caldwell clan. Jack was a good man and will be missed by all who loved him. I am sorry not to be able to attend his services but he will be in my prayers, as will be the whole family. I will make a donation to gazelle.org in his memory. Love, Paula Espinoza

Jack and I used to talk often at various races around town. He was always a kind and helpful runner friend. Though I've not raced much in recent years, I've often wondered about Jack and hoped his running and health were good. RIP, Jack. You touched many a young runner in this town.
