Jack Casteel Obituary

LAPAZ - Jack D. Casteel, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Jack was born on Sept. 21, 1949, in Ridgely, Tennessee, to Harry and Moley (Young) Casteel. He graduated from John Glenn High School in 1968. Jack proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1976. After being honorably discharged from the military, Jack put his skill set to use as a self-employed painter.
He had a wonderful sense of humor, always looking to put a smile on someone's face. Jack loved watching a wide variety of movies, from Westerns to Comedies. Most importantly, spending time with his family was everything to him. Jack will be deeply missed by those who knew him well.
He is survived by his children, Jacob (Stephany) Casteel of Plymouth; Shelly Heim of LaPaz; siblings: Norman (Shirley) Casteel of LaPorte, IN; Fred Casteel of Walkerton; 7 Grandchildren and 3-Great-Grandchildren.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ray Casteel, Clyde Casteel, Bill Casteel; sisters: Carmell Beasly, Bernice Knox, Elosie Rose, Annie Sawyer, and Jame Adrine.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date with military honors.
