Jack W. Copher

Jack W. Copher, age 80 of Winnetka, Illinois and formerly of Elwood, died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Evanston Hospital in Illinois. He was born November 11, 1924 in Elwood. He served in the Air Force during World War II as a First Lieutenant. After the war he started his career in advertising. He started as Brand Manager of the Household Soap Division of Armour & Company. He then joined the Gillette Company in 1955 as Brand Manager of the Toni Company and rose to become Advertising Manager and General Sales Manager for Gillette Laboratories. Mr. Copher then joined DDB Needham of Chicago in 1960 as an Account Executive. Soon he was promoted to Account Supervisor. He was elected Vice President in 1961, was named Senior Account Director in 1965 and Senior Vice President, Management Representative in 1975. His assignments included Kraft, S.C. Johnson, Rawling Sporting Goods, Lever Bros., Accent International, Morton, Schick Safety Razor and G.D. Searle. Mr. Copher was promoted to Senior Vice President, Group Account Director in 1983. His representatives included, State Farm, HFC, Rubbermaid, Frigidaire and NEC Home Electronics. He retired in 1994.

Survivors include - Wife: Patricia (Kreuser) Copher of Winnetka. Daughter: Susan and husband Lance Champagne. 2 Brothers: Charles and wife Roberta Copher of Elwood and Dr. David and wife Martha Copher of Indianapolis. Grandson: Daniel James Champagne. He was preceded in death by - Parents: Everett & Dolly (Fesler) Copher. Brother: J. Philip Copher.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 27, 2005 at Donnellan Family Funeral Home in Skokie, Illinois. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Northbrook, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Donnellan Family Funeral Home.
