Jack Derhovsepian Obituary Jack DerHovsepian, 87, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 18th surrounded by family.
Jack grew up in Racine, WI where he played football, trombone and was active in student government.
He proudly attended Lawrence University where he met his beloved wife, Patricia. After serving in the U.S. Army Continental Command Band, he and Pat embarked on their almost 64-year marriage. Together, they raised three daughters, doted on three granddaughters, biked well into their 80s, traveled the world, enjoyed longtime friends, vacationed in Door County, took countless walks, and regularly attended symphony concerts.
Jack taught history and civics at South Milwaukee Junior High for 32 years where he formed many close friendships.
His active lifestyle, optimism, and quiet determination helped him soldier through several health issues later in life.
Jack fully enjoyed the simple things in life until the very end, including music, nature, family, a good book, a silly pun, a challenging crossword, a slice or two of pie.
He is preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth, father Michael, sisters Sandy Vincent and Martha Burman. He leaves his wife, Patricia (nee Miller), his daughters Anne (Scott) MacQuarrie, Sandra, Joan (Erik Gronfor), adoring granddaughters Katie, Aly and Clara, and nieces and nephews.
He also leaves us with a lifetime of gratitude, cherished memories, silly jokes, a belief in democracy, and a strong moral compass. All of which will help guide us going forward without him.
A celebration of Jacks life will be announced at a later date. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Jack, please visit our Tree Store.
