IN LOVING MEMORY

Jack W. Dzuro, age 91, of Green, Ohio, went home to his Heavenly Father on August 20, 2025, after a long illness. Born in 1934 and raised in Akron, he lived a life grounded in faith, service, and compassion. A devoted member of Arlington Nazarene Church, he found great joy over decades in teaching Sunday school. To him, it wasn't just teaching - it was his ministry, and he found fulfillment in guiding others to grow in their faith.

Jack began life working on the family farm and in the garden center on White Pond Drive in Copley, Ohio, cultivating not only the soil but a lifelong love for flowers and nature. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army before dedicating years as a machinist at BF Goodrich.

As a devoted sports fan, Jack never missed a chance to cheer on the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians/Guardians. He gave generously of his time as a youth basketball coach, leaving a lasting mark on countless lives both on and off the court. He also enjoyed gardening, the peace and quiet of a good fishing spot, and birthday lunches with his brothers and sisters at Pizza Hut in Wadsworth.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine; mother, Beatrice (Arthur) Dzuro; and father, Donald (Alice) Dilworth, he is survived by his cherished daughter, Marilyn (Jeff) Chapanar; brothers, Don Dzuro, Kenny Dilworth; and sisters Betty (Jerry) McCarty, Donna Moutes, Nancy (James) Noe; and many nieces and nephews.

With deepest gratitude, we honor David, Jack's devoted caregiver. His unwavering compassion, humor, strength, and extraordinary care brought Jack not only comfort and dignity, but a profound sense of peace in his final chapter. David's presence was a gift - one that touched Jack's life and ours in ways words can scarcely express. We will forever carry that kindness in our hearts. We also extend a special thank you to the DaVita Dialysis team on Boettler Road whose exceptional care and encouragement made a meaningful difference.

Jack's piercing blue Dilworth eyes reflected a kind and generous soul who nurtured both gardens and relationships throughout his life. He missed his wife, Gerry, and looked forward to reuniting with her in heaven.

Above all, Jack was a good, Christian man ~ a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend. A servant of faith. A life beautifully lived. He will be deeply missed.

Hebrews 11:1: Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Family and friends may call on Friday, August 29, from 10:00-11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd, Akron OH 44305, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am, with Pastor Darrell Frazier officiating. Interment at East Liberty Cemetery.

The family kindly requests donations, in lieu of flowers, to One of A Kind Pet Rescue in honor of Fluffy and Bumper (family pets who went before), Leroy (grand-dog), and Beethoven, a dog who Jack fostered briefly in his later years and loved dearly.
