Jack Gillette Obituary

Jack W. Gillette, 78, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center. Born on August 21, 1947, in Huntington, WV, Jack was the cherished son of the late Jack and Jewell Perry Gillette. A man of profound faith and boundless love, Jack's life was a testament to the values he held dear.

During his high school years Jack lived with his aunt and uncle Joe and Joyce Gillette and their children, Joe, Frank, Debbie and Sandy in Johnson, Ohio and they quickly became his siblings for life. He was a graduate of Johnston Monroe High School.

Jack was a proud member of the Ashland Assembly of God, where he served as a Church Board Member. His commitment to his faith was evident in his daily life and in the way he generously shared his spirit with those around him. Jack's love for God was matched only by his love for his family, and he especially reveled in the joy and warmth of the Christmas season.

A patriot at heart, Jack honorably served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to the Catlettsburg Fire Department and Police Department and the United States Postal Service, from which he retired with a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Though Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Sue Gillette, his legacy continues through his loving family. He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Jewell Gillette-Crisp and her husband Jason of Ashland, and Angela Ann Pater and husband Greg of Las Vegas. His memory will also be cherished by his brother, Mark Gillette and wife Morgan of Atlanta, GA.

Jack's joyous spirit lives on through his five grandchildren, Courtney Shandel (Tyler) Hensley, Christopher Jackson Blake Gillette, Chloe Alexis Gillette, Clayton Allen (Kati) Hampton and Katelynn (Spencer) Crisp as well as his three great-grandchildren, Hank Hensley, Hardy Jack Hensley, Baylor Brumfield and many nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Kimi McClelland. Each of them will carry forward the kindness, love, and faith that Jack instilled in them.

Funeral services to celebrate Jack's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME, 13th STREET CHAPEL, officiated by Pastor Bob Vance. Jack will be laid to rest at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Kenova American Legion Post 93, in recognition of his service and sacrifice.

Visitation for family and friends will take place from 11:30 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. A man of unwavering kindness and loving presence, Jack W. Gillette will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His light will continue to shine through the countless lives he touched.
