Herbert L Clark

Herbert L. Clark, 91, of Flatwoods, Kentucky passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Woodland Oaks in Ashland, Kentucky.

Herbert was born February 10, 1934, in Flatwoods to the late Herschel Clark and Myrtle (Adams) Clark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Loretta Duty and her husband Cermillus Duty, one son-in-law James Strong, one niece Cheryl Teath, and one nephew, Ike Duty.

He is survived by his wife Lois Clark, one son, Brent Clark and his wife Sara of Richwood, Ohio, two daughters, Jonda Strong of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lisa Keyton and her fiancé Greg King of Huber Heights, Ohio, two step-daughters, Rhonda Phelps and her husband Greg of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Brenda Morrison and her husband John of Springfield, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Brad Littler (Dawn), Justin Young (Alisha), Blayne Young (Nicole), Kristen Clark, Patrick Dempsey (Shelbe Tyzer), Jeffrey Dempsey (Laura Jurcevic), and Zane Temple, several great grandchildren, one great niece Jolyn Miller (William), and several other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Herbert lived a life with his eyes turned toward the sky. He proudly served in the Air Force, a time he carried with quiet honor and deep respect. Airplanes weren't just machines to him, they were symbols of freedom, adventure, and possibility. Whether he was watching planes soar overhead, talking about them with anyone who would listen, or stepping out of one thousands of feet above the ground for the thrill of skydiving, he felt most alive when he was closest to the clouds.

On the ground, he found just as much joy in the simple routines of life. Morning often began at McDonald's, where he gathered faithfully with the "Breakfast Bunch." Over hot coffee and familiar faces, stories were told, laughter was shared, and friendships were strengthened. Those breakfasts were more than a meal; they were a daily celebration of connection and community.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 9, 2026 with Pastor Shane Cox officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM till the service hour, Monday, February 9, 2026, at Carman Funeral Home.
