Jack Hammack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory - Huntsville on Apr. 8, 2023.
Jack Cecil Hammack, Sr. was born in Rogers, Arkansas on December 15, 1931, the son of Bryan Oliver Hammack and Esther Dora Evans Hammack.
Jack married Ruth Lucinda Stafford Hammack on August 1, 1955, and together they had four children. At the age of 18, Jack enlisted in the Marine Corps from 1949 until 1953 where he bravely served in two deployments of active duty and combat in the Korean War. Jack was honored with many metals including the prestigious Purple Heart for his act of strength and courage. Jack also served as a guard at The Pentagon.
He then enlisted in the Air Force from 1954 until 1969 where he served as a respected survival instructor in Alaska, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Washington State before concluding his military career at the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5).
After serving 20 years in the Armed Forces, Jack retired and moved, with his family, to 100 acres outside the rolling hills of Clifty, Arkansas. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and spent his retirement hunting with his loyal companion Carlo, a shepherd mix, fishing, foraging mushrooms, playing his guitar, singing songs from iconic musicians like his favorite, Hank Snow, and spending time with his family. Jack is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Hammack, and his siblings Eula Mae Eaton, J.B. Hammack, Jaccine Ames, and Roberta O'Brien.
Jack is survived by his children, Jack Cecil Hammack, Jr. (Chas), Lucinda Ann Battisto (Greg), Karen Denise Marks (Andrew), and Timothy Oscar Hammack (Rene') his grandchildren Brooke Battisto, Hunter Battisto, Toni Battisto, Megan Marks Johnson, and Matthew Marks and his great-grandchildren, Brendan, Skylar, Luca, Arabella, Nicholas, and Andrew.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Clifty Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
