Dodge City - Jack Honnold, 98, died December 13, 2024 at Manor of the Plains, in Dodge City. He was born on October 14, 1926 at Winfield, Kansas the son of Bernard Edwin and Maurine (Dulaney) Honnold.
Jack was raised in Winfield, Kansas and attended and graduated from Winfield High School, He furthered his education by attending the University of Kansas graduating from the William Allen White School of Journalism and Public Information in1950. He was also a Eagle Scout in the Winfield Boy Scout Troop. He married Jeanne Prunty on August 21, 1948 she preceded him in death on August 19, 1996. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1947 in the Philippines Islands. Jack moved to Dodge City in 1952 going to work for the Dodge City Daily Globe, were he worked as the Advertising Manager before retiring in 1991. He married Jean Lasater on May 3, 1998 she preceded him in death on April 29, 2024. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing, boating and traveling in his spare time.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Dodge City Country Club, Past Master St. Bernard Lodge #222, A.F. & A.M, and former member of Dodge City Lion's Club all of Dodge City.
He is survived by one daughter Pamela Bacon and husband Chris of Overland Park, Kansas, one son David Alan Honnold of Yuma, Arizona. He is also survived by his step children Thomas Lasater of Wichita, Shelley Lasater Richards and husband Bart of Loveland, Colorado, Dant Lasater and wife Gail of Chesterfield, Missouri and nine step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanne, son Gary Bruce Honnold, daughter-in-law Alyson Honnold, wife Jean, step daughter-in-law Carla Lasater.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday December 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Dodge City Public Library in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
