Jack Hudson, 92, of Des Moines and formerly of Hillsboro passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Jack was born on March 27, 1930, at Cincinnati, Iowa the son of Jesse L. and Ruth J. (Henderson) Hudson. Jack served his country during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Lucille Manning on April 18, 1953, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. After his military duties he began working at Dexter's, John Deere, Wolf's Furniture Store, Imperial Gas Station and retired from Fairfield Glove Factory. Jack was a member of the American Legion, was the Hillsboro Park Commissioner and had served on the Hillsboro City Council. Jack loved to be outside mowing yards on his John Deere. He was very social and loved visiting with his family and friends. Jack and Lucille enjoyed attending Midwest Old Threshers each year. He could always be counted on to help others in the community, whether mowing or running errands for them. You would often see Jack and Lucille at yard sales.

Jack is survived by his wife of 69 years Lucille, of Des Moines, his children Beverly (Donald) Schier, of Burlington, Debbie Nash, of Circle Pines, Minnesota, Penny Hudson, of Des Moines and Rick (Joyce) Hudson, of Bradenton, Florida, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, one brother, Jerry (Charlotte) Hudson, of Burlington and a sister in law, Dorothy Hudson, of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Blake Nash and two brothers, Isaac Hudson and Bill Hudson.

Funeral Services will be held at noon on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Reverend Earl Swigart officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in the Cottonwood Cemetery rural Wayland. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:30 on Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to the Hillsboro Fire and Rescue Department in his memory.
