Jack David McDonald, 78, of Milo, MO passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility, Stockton, MO. Jack was born on October 5, 1946, in Knoxville, IA to James and Alma (Smith) McDonald. He married Diane Brubaker on August 15, 1970 in Kirksville, MO. She survives of the home.
Jack was raised in Knoxville, IA and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1964. He attended Centerville Community College, Centerville, IA and Monmouth College, Monmouth, IL where he graduated and played football. Jack taught school and coached high school football and baseball as well as Jr. High basketball in the Huntley, IL school district for 10 years. He then went to work for Dale Electronics and later 3M in Norfolk, NE. He transferred to 3M Nevada in 1984 and continued until his retirement as a Department Manager in 2003.
Jack was a very active volunteer for the Nevada Griffons for many years. He and Diane served as a host family for Griffons players for over 30 years. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
In addition to his wife, Diane, Jack is survived by brothers, Bill McDonald (Diane), Knoxville, IA, and Tony McDonald (Patty), Foley, AL; numerous nieces and nephews; adopted baseball son, Mickey Nichol (Tara), Bixby, OK; adopted McGinnis families, San Antonio, TX; adopted Barteau families, Dallas, TX; adopted Parsons family, Perry, GA; and his beloved dogs, Ernie and Barney. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy & Linda McDonald.
No services are planned at this time. The family suggests memorials in Jack's memory to the Nevada Animal Shelter or the Nevada Griffons in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
