Jack Mentel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nosek-McCreery Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebrations on Jan. 2, 2026.
JACK MENTEL, age 92, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Lois Mentel (nee Zorc) for 50 years. Loving father of Marlene Moses (Gregory), Marian Goss (Jeffrey), and Michael Mentel. Dearest grandfather of Hannah (Nathaniel Peters), Aurelia, Emma, and Owen. Dear brother to the late Gail. Uncle, great uncle, and friend to many. Also survived by his beloved cat, Owen.
Jack was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1956-1958. Jack's talent in the graphic arts lead him to a successful sales career in the publishing industry. During their 50 years together, Jack and Lois enjoyed traveling the world. As a supporter of the arts, Jack enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren perform in the U.S. and abroad. It gave him great joy to support their musical education and careers. In addition to Jack's love of classical and jazz music, he enjoyed watching Ohio sports teams including the Browns and the Buckeyes.
Family and friends will be received at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. followed by Jack's funeral service at 11:30 a.m.

Sending Jack's family my sympathies. I have been Jack's health insurance broker since 2018. I am so very sorry for your loss. He and I last spoke in December and planned on talking again in January, so I could help him. I had a bad feeling when I wasn't hearing back from him, since he was in the hospital when he last called me. He was eager to get out and get back to working out at the gym, (which is the same place I exercise). He had a great mind and was very with it. Your dad was such a nice man and I thought very fondly of him. I am very sorry for your loss.

Sincerely,
Joyce O'Malley
