Jack Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Musselman Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc on Aug. 12, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Jack Steven Miller, 67, on Monday, August 7, 2025, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Born January 18, 1958, in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, to the late Jack Cooper Miller and Jean Pauline Stevens, Jack's story began on Liberty Hill, where he grew up making memories of playing baseball and brotherly hijinks with Jay and Jimmy. He was a graduate of Jim Thorpe High School and Lincoln Tech, which led to a career as an engineer for Blue Ridge Cable. A pillar of his community for many years, Jack's commitment to public service was profound. He served as an alderman at St. John's Lutheran Church, was a proud Freemason of Carbon Lodge #242, and held various leadership posts at the Phoenix Fire Company, where he also served as a fire instructor. His civic pride was evident when he ran for mayor of Jim Thorpe and in his lasting contribution of designing the borough's official seal. His leadership also extended to roles as President of the First Baptist Church Council and the Bethlehem City Republican Club. To know Jack was to know his friendly, unfiltered spirit, love of candy, and his signature sense of humor. He was a "big kid" who never lost his passion for G.I. Joes, Matchbox cars, and the newest gadgets. Famous for his one-liners and a collection of inappropriate jokes from the 1980s, Jack lived to make others laugh and was never afraid to speak his mind. Above all, Jack was a proud father and "Pop-Pop." He leaves behind his sons, Jacob "Jake" Miller (Devin) and Mason Miller (Gianna); his daughter-in-law, Cassandra Bloss (widow of his son, Stephen); and grandchildren, Jonah, Isaiah, and Joy. He is also survived by his brother, Jay Miller (Barbara) and children, Jay, Zachary, and Marissa; his brother, James Miller (Jennifer) and children, Lindsey, Jordon, and Alyssa; his step-mother, Susan (Jones); his aunt, Linda (Miller) Richards and cousins, Kevin Kroculick and Karen McManaman, and Norm and Brian Richards. He is now reunited with those who passed before him, including his parents and his son, Stephen Jack Miller. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jack's life on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Musselman Funeral Home in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to M28 Ministry (https://m28.us/give/). This church was a vital force in Jack's life for nearly a decade, helping him and many other men in Central Pennsylvania get on their feet and become a positive force in society. Your support in his name would be a meaningful tribute.

My deepest condolences go out to all of Jack's family as I too will miss my "fun" friend. Growing up and graduating together produced many fond memories of which this picture is just one of Jack (left), Bubser (middle), and myself (right) as we clowned around between classes during our senior year in high school. I'll remember you always my friend.
