Jack Traveled to the Beat of a Different Drummer.
Jack Pierpoint Morgan Jr., age 72, passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. He passed peacefully at his home in Columbia.
Jack was born on September 22, 1952, in Columbia, Tennessee, the third child of the late Jack and Martha Hill Morgan. He graduated from Columbia Military Academy in 1970. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy. He served his country for six years. In the Navy, he was able to visit countries around the world on the ship, USS Brumby, a destroyer escort ship. During his time in the Navy, he was able to study electronics, radar, and electricity.
These skills were the foundation of his lifelong career as an electrician! He was employed in the family business, Morgan Brothers Electric. He left for a time and worked at Nissan in Smyrna, Tennessee. He returned to Columbia and worked for a time at Morgan Brothers. He later became an independent electrician to the present. J. L. Jacobs. The current State Electrical Inspector told Bob, Jack's brother, numerous times, that Jack was the best electrician in the State! Jack never retired!
Jack was a believer in Jesus and often had conversations about Him with his siblings and others. Jack had a generous, kind heart, and often tried to help those less fortunate than he. If you had an electrical or technical problem, he could help you! If you asked him a question about it, you might get more of an explanation than you wanted! Those who knew him understand!
Survivors include Jack's two daughters, Amber (Ryan) Marx of Columbia and Katie (Jordan) Gibby of Kingston Springs, and two grandchildren, Thomas Avery Marx and Eva Rose Marx of Columbia.
He is also survived by his sister, Lynn (Donald) Steinfeldt and brother Bob (Elizabeth) Morgan all of Columbia, nieces and nephews, Rachel (Chad) Hollis of Culleoka, Wendy (Kevin) Twit of Nashville, Jessica (John) Moser of Columbia, Bobby (Sonja) Morgan, Rebecca Lamar of Hermitage, Amanda (Wesley) Farmer of Culleoka, Michelle (C J) Hill of Wisconsin, Shannon Steinfeldt of Franklin. He had three great nieces and four great nieces in law and ten great nephews. Jack had many cousins, some he knew well, Larry (Trish) Morgan, and Kathy (Russ) Hanshaw, Mac (Janet) Morgan, Joy (William) Bell, and some he never met.
